What makes Diana Health’s maternity care different?

  • Midwives + OB/GYNs working together: Choose care from Certified Nurse Midwives, OB/GYNs, or both. Your care team collaborates throughout pregnancy and brings in the right expertise when you need it.
  • 24/7 midwife-led labor care: Deliver at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Allen with a Diana Health midwife leading your delivery, backed by OB/GYN support and medical intervention when needed.
  • Your birth preferences, taken seriously: From pain management and mobility during labor to your preferences for delivery, your care team helps you understand your options and prepare for the birth you want.
  • More connected prenatal care: Longer visits, in-house labs and testing, birth preparation, and convenient digital tools make it easier to stay informed and connected throughout your pregnancy.
  • Postpartum care that continues: Get early postpartum check-ins, lactation support, and ongoing care for your physical and mental health after delivery, not just a single six-week follow-up.

Common Questions

Where can I find a midwife or OB/GYN for prenatal care in Allen?

Diana Health offers maternity care at our Allen, TX practice. Our team performs procedures in partnership with Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Allen. Call (972) 635-3469 or book online to schedule a consultation.

Does my insurance cover maternity care in Texas?

Diana Health accepts most major insurance plans, including Medicaid. Coverage varies by plan and procedure, so we recommend calling our Allen office at (972) 635-3469 to confirm your specific benefits before your visit.

Does Diana Health support medicated births?

Yes! We believe in supporting every type of birth, no matter what your preference may be. All of our hospital partners are equipped to administer epidurals safely and effectively.

If you would prefer an epidural during labor and delivery, make sure to let your Diana Health provider when discussing your birth preferences.

What can I expect during my first few pregnancy visits?

Your first few visits are all about getting to know you, getting you established with your care team, and making sure your pregnancy is off to a healthy start.

At Diana Health, we like to start prenatal care with a New Pregnancy Virtual Consult (NPVC). During this telehealth visit, you’ll meet with a Diana Health clinician who will get to know you, answer your initial questions, and make sure everything is set up for your first in-person visit and ultrasound.

If a virtual visit isn’t the right fit for you, and you’re not far enough along in your pregnancy for our New OB (NOB) appointment, we may instead recommend an in-clinic Pregnancy Confirmation visit. This appointment serves a similar purpose to the NPVC and does not typically include an ultrasound.

Following your NPVC or Pregnancy Confirmation appointment, the next step is your New OB (NOB) visit, which usually takes place around 10–12 weeks of pregnancy. This is your first comprehensive prenatal visit and will typically include your first ultrasound, prenatal lab work, and a more detailed review of your health, pregnancy, and care plan.

From there, you’ll transition into routine prenatal visits (ROBs) with your Diana Health care team.

What is a midwife?

At Diana Health, all of our midwives are Certified Nurse Midwives (CNMs)—advanced practice registered nurses with specialized training in pregnancy, childbirth, and women’s health.

Midwives do much more than support patients during labor and delivery. They provide care throughout every stage of life, including urgent and routine gynecologic care, prenatal and postpartum care, menopause management, and more. Our midwives work closely with our OB-GYNs and the rest of our care team members to provide comprehensive, whole-person care.

While we’re proud to champion midwifery care, we also understand that every patient has different needs and preferences. Patients may choose to see a Certified Nurse Midwife, an OB-GYN, or another advanced practice provider.
