Rachel Mortensen
APRN, CNM
Certified Nurse Midwife
Cookeville
My passion for women’s healthcare grew from my work in labor and delivery, where I saw the need for compassionate, evidence-based care. Midwifery has allowed me to empower women across their lifespan, helping them achieve their goals. It’s an honor to be part of their birth and health journeys.
Specialties: PCOS; contraception counseling; physiological birth
Rachel Mortensen, CNM, is a 2020 graduate of Frontier Nursing University with a master’s degree in Midwifery. She received her bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Kentucky in 2017 and started her career as a Labor and Delivery nurse at the University of Louisville Hospital. During her time there, she cared for a broad range of pregnant individuals, taught prenatal classes, and worked as an obstetrics nursing clinical instructor.
Rachel completed her midwifery training in a university setting, community hospital, and birth center. She is passionate about childbirth education and helping pregnant people safely achieve their birthing goals. She highly values the relationships she builds with her patients as she partners with them through pregnancy, addresses gynecological concerns, and promotes holistic health at well-women annuals.
Originally from Wisconsin, Rachel loves to travel and visit her family. She also enjoys exploring all the outdoor activities around Cookeville through biking, hiking, and camping with her partner and dog. She spends her free time renovating her house, baking, and gardening.
